At Foster Farm, the environment isn’t just an empty promise — it’s a daily commitment, deeply rooted in a sustainable and regenerative vision for the land. On this World Environment Day, let’s take a closer look at what truly makes a difference… the things you don’t always see, but that are essential.
Concrete actions for biodiversity
- Reintroduction of natural spaces: over 300 trees planted, 4 km of wild hedgerows, and the restoration of a pond to support local wildlife and preserve the site's hydrology.
- Protected biodiversity sanctuaries: notably the sandpit, now a refuge for a variety of species.
These initiatives contribute to ecological rebalancing: rabbits, hares, pheasants, deer, woodcocks, swans, dragonflies, swallows… the list grows year after year.
Energy self-sufficiency: an inspiring model
Thanks to solar panels, smart batteries, a wind turbine, and a well, Foster Farm is one of the first buildings in Wallonia to be nearly energy self-sufficient. A concrete and ambitious project that proves:
- Clean, local energy is viable,
- Energy autonomy supports resilience and innovation,
- It is possible to combine high performance with environmental respect.

An integrated vision: nature, energy, and community
Foster represents an inspiring alternative:
- By combining biodiversity, energy autonomy, and shared use of space.
- By showing that a farm can become a place for work, innovation, and connection—without compromising ecological commitments.
As Slow Food highlights, Foster is “an ethical and sustainable ecosystem in Wallonia”.
A journey that continues
Yes, much remains to be done. But the foundation is there: a carefully built, deep-rooted approach, far from empty announcements. One that plants the seeds of a future that’s more mindful, respectful, and full of hope.
