Foster Rosières, Belgium's first Slow Farm: a partnership in support of sustainable agriculture 🌱

Foster Rosières has just been officially recognised as the first Slow Farm in Belgium by the international organisation Slow Food, on the occasion of the launch of Terra Madre Europe. A prestigious distinction, certainly, but above all a key step in the construction of a sustainable and collaborative ecosystem..

A label with meaning... and a mission

Being a Slow Farm is not just about displaying a label. It is about committing to a concrete engagement in favour of agriculture that respects soils, seasons, living beings, and ecosystems. It is also about actively working towards the preservation of biodiversity and the development of short supply chains.

At Foster, this vision is already being translated into action. Soon, a nourishing vegetable garden will be established next to the restaurant Màloma, led by the committed chef Georges Athanassopoulos. From farm to plate, each step will be designed with a focus on respect, transparency, and sustainability.

A model based on strong partnerships

This progress would never have been possible without collective energy. Foster Rosières is above all an adventure of sustainable cooperation and shared intelligence.

As a pilot farm for Agriland SA, we are experimenting with concrete agroecological practices:

 🌿 Reduction of chemical inputs

🌿 Integration of pollinators in crops

 🌿 Hedge planting for biodiversity

Nous collaborons aussi avec des artisan·es passionné·es, à l’image de Capucine à table, la ferme florale de Stéphanie de Bellefroid, pour promouvoir l’autonomie alimentaire locale et la transmission des savoir-faire.

These synergies are essential. They allow us to anchor our actions in the territory, to pool knowledge, and to bring forth a new way of producing, cooking, and consuming.

A European recognition that inspires us

This week, Foster had the honour of welcoming a delegation from the European Commission, members of the Slow Food Alliance, as well as prominent engaged European chefs. Their presence highlights the importance of building bridges between the institutional, agricultural, artisanal, and gastronomic sectors.

We are proud that Foster is recognised as a place of convergence, where farmers, artisans, entrepreneurs, and citizens come together. A place of transformation, where sustainable food becomes a reality, both on the plate and in agricultural practices.

➡ Join us in this agricultural transition, for a fairer, slower, and profoundly human food system.

Foster Slow Farm: this is just the beginning 🌍

This recognition marks a turning point. But for Foster Rosières, it is only the beginning of a long journey of learning, experimentation, and transmission.

Thank you to Slow Food for their trust, and thank you to all our partners who make this adventure possible.
